The Magic Behind Christian Dior

Spring 2003 Couture

Photographer Roxanne Lowit, who has shot editorial's for Vogue and Vanity Fair, as well as ad campaigns for Vivienne Westwood and Emporio Armani, has been photographing behind the scenes with John Galliano's Christian Dior for the past decade. From these photographs she has compiled a photo book, Backstage Dior. The pictures are absolutely beautiful. I would love to get this book for Christmas! Here are a few pictures from Backstage Dior & if you are interested in purchasing it, you can get it off Amazon.com for $78.75.

Beyoncé's New Frangance "Heat"

My girl Beyoncé has a new fragrance, “Heat,” coming out at the end of January. She told WWD that a lot of her performances involved heat so that would be best name for it. The scent is made up of red vanilla, orchid, magnolia, neroli, and blush peach which sounds sexy and makes me want to go out and invest. The ad campaign for the fragrance is also suppose to be sexy as she stated, “it’s called Heat, so we wanted the ads to be really steamy and dewy,” she said. “My sexiest moments are when I’m just getting out of the tub or the shower and I’m clean, so I wanted to incorporate that in the ads. The dress was this liquid-y satin." Owwwwww! LOL

Project Runway Returns!

By now I'm sure everyone has heard that Project Runway is returning this winter, January 14 to be exact. Does anyone think it's too soon? I'm use to waiting months and months for the next season to come on and I don't mind it because it make it a little more special. I hope Lifetime doesn't change it so that there's a Project Runway spring, summer and fall. That's too much. But anyway's I'm excited about it coming back. And they're back in New York! Woo hoo.

Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2010

So today I had an interview with one of my favorite fashion magazines and the girl who interviewed me asked, "who are some of your favorite designers." And for me I really didn't have to think about the answer. Number 1: Marc Jacobs (even though I didn't say that to her because he's everyone's favorite designer; simply because of the fact MJ can do no wrong). Number 2: Alexander Wang. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I describe my style as "tomboy chic." You can most likely catch me in a v-neck, some skinny jeans, and some fly heels (or boots). I rarely wear dresses. And to me, Alexander Wang embodies that "tomboy chic." And number 3: Jason Wu. He became huge after designing Michelle Obama's inauguration dress and the boy is on fire. Recently he showed his pre-fall 2010 collection and I love it! It does have a lot of dresses but they are simple, classy, and easily accessible to wear almost anywhere. Check them out..pics courtesy of style.com.

Sex & The City 2 Movie Poster!

The Sex & the City 2 movie poster is out....owwwww. Is it weird that I'm this excited about it? Maybe a little but I don't care. The movie is said to be released May 28, 2010, around the same time it came out 2 years ago. I can still watch the first movie over and over (I just did last night lol) and not get tired of it. I'm verryyyy excited about the second one. Woo hooo!

13-Year-Old Fashion Muse

So if you have not heard of the 13-year-old Tavi, writer of Style Rookie, you've been living in a box. She's sat front row at New York Fashion Week, appeared on the cover of magazines, landed a gig writing for Harper's Bazaar, was guest of honor at Rei Kawakubo's holiday party in Japan, and created a friendship with the Rodarte sisters. A friendship so great, they teamed up to create a video for Rodarte's collection for Target. She's freakin fantastic. I love this girl! Watch the video, which appeared on style.com yesterday, as I go find something productive to do with my life so I can catch up to this 13 year old's status lol.

Oscar De La Renta Pre-Fall Collection

A few designers have shown their collections for pre-fall (meaning fall of next year) and I'm loving them already. One of my favorite designers, Oscar de la Renta, showed yesterday and I loved his collection. He had so many great bright colors, great patterns and patchwork, and was of course sexy and chic. Here are a few designs from his show. The rest you can see on style.com.

Writing + Fashion = Me :)

I had to do a project on different writing genres for a class, and of course I chose fashion writing. I wanted to share an excerpt of part of my project...

Vicky's Secret Fashion Show

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night…all I have to say is oowwwww. My favorite scene was definitely the last with all jewels and glitz and glamour, as well as the enchanted forest. The intricate details were amazing! The models were sexyyyy and I'm happy Kylie won. Would you have picked her to be the next Angel? I love Vicky’s. Makes me wanna go buy something!

Vogue Paris' Sexyyyy Calender

Vogue Paris has their 2010 calendar out and all I have to say is ooowwwwww. Mario Sorrenti shot models Iselin Steiro, Natasha Poly, and Raquel Zimmermann for the racy shoot at the Lido in Paris. The models were wearing the likes of diamanté panties and cupless triangle tops with neon lights and a lot of sexy. Here are some of the pics from the calendar. I wonder where I can buy one?

Stingray & Lizard Cuffs

I’m not usually a bracelet girl, however I do wear a watch everyday; things on my wrists get on my nerves lol. But after seeing these cuffs made by Texas native Leigh Navarro, I may want to invest in some. The big trend this season was bangles stacked high but I just couldn’t get with it. But I like how these cuff can stand on their own. The brand Leighelena makes a wide array of cuffs in different materials and prints such as black stingray and grey lizard, with either silver or gold fastenings. What do you guys think?

$90 at shopmilk.com

If you're looking for a cute cuff on a budget here are some ones I found for under $50.

Forever 21 New Beauty Line

Forever 21 has launched their new beauty product line, love & beauty, which is fully stocked at 135 locations while partially stocked at the remaining 305 locations. The line consists of beauty products for lips, eyes, face, nails, fragrance, and tools and accessories such as cosmetic bags, tweezers and makeup brushes with nothing over $10. You also can purchase the products on Forever21.com. While I don’t wear that much makeup and I’m definitely not makeup savvy, I’m not sure if I would wear Forever 21 makeup? I think the prices are great but I’m just curious about the quality. Forever 21 spokeswoman Kristin Nagle stated, “We are using a lot of the vendors that are making prestige cosmetics. It is the same quality as prestige vendors, but at Forever 21 prices.” So maybe the quality is there? Would you buy Forever 21 makeup or other beauty products?

Elle Has A New Fashion Director

One of my favorite magazines Elle, who has the lovely Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover this month, finally has a new fashion director to replace Nina Garcia. Garcia left Elle April 2008 and is now the fashion director at Marie Claire as well as one of the regular judges on Project Runway. The new fashion director, Alexis Bryan Morgan, will start her job at Elle in January after finishing up at Vanity Fair as their executive fashion editor. I wonder if she’s going to be on the next season of The City hating Olivia as much as Erin does? lol.

Wanna Be The Next Chanel Iman? I Do!

Ford Models is looking for the next big supermodel. They are having their Ford Supermodel of the World contest to find the next Chanel Iman (who entered the contest a few seasons ago – look at her now!). They literally search all over the world to find the freshest faces and are going to be in LA and NYC this Saturday to find their US candidate. The winner of the US search gets to go to Brazil (ahhh Jealous!) and compete for a contract worth $250,000. It seems like a wonderful opportunity for aspiring models. To apply, go to www.fordmodels.com/supermodelus.
